About Me

Hi there!
It all started on a bright sunny morning, when I stepped into a
little van which took me to one of the great centers of learning- the Humpty
Dumpty School.
Life at Humpty Dumpty School was rather enjoyable- “classes” would begin at 9 AM, and then conveniently end at 11 AM. In those two hours, we would sing nursery rhymes, play with toy cars, hide-and-seek, run around, shout, break things and so forth. In short, we had a hectic course schedule.

During my Humpty Dumpty days, I also managed to break my left hand. The
fracture was a master-piece- an X-Ray prompted the orthopedic surgeon to ask me,
“How did you actually manage to break your hand like this?”. The work of a
genius is instantly recognized, I guess.
It took two surgeries, and two orthopedic surgeons, to get my hand fixed. I really brushed up their orthopedic skills. They still thank me for that.

On a more serious note, the second surgery was done by Dr M S Ghosh. I remain grateful to him for a truly remarkable bit of surgery- which almost surely prevented two of my fingers from becoming non-functional.

After I “graduated” from Humpty Dumpty, I stepped into St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, Park Street, Calcutta. Here too, I spent 12 exciting years full of fun, excitement, failures and triumphs. The first five years were spent in the Primary School. Classes 6 to 12 were in the High School building.
It would fill up many pages to describe my days in school. And at the end of it all, a lot would remain unsaid. I made some great friends in school- friendships which promise to last for life.

After I finished school, I entered the Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM), Salt Lake, Calcutta, for my Bachelor of Technology (BTech) course in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).

While school life was all about adhering to strict rules and regulations, college life gave me my first taste of a freedom. I loved every bit of it. Here too, I made some lasting friendships. And there are way too many memories to describe. I will try to put up a few photos (as each photo will be equivalent to 1000 words. Because the photos are of rather high quality, some might even be equivalent to 1500 words). That should help me out a bit.

Special memories include the in-class treats that we would have after the results of a semester examination were published. Then there was the great IEM-CSE picnic. Then the Festronix technical fest. And a lot more…

Presently, I am a PhD student at the Department of Computer Science and Automation (CSA), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India. I visited IISc for my written test and interviews on June 9, 2011. I simply fell in love with the campus. The weather in Bangalore is so wonderful, and the campus is like a beautiful forest.
I really look forward to having a wonderful time in IISc.

  1. Your resume on days at Humpty Dumpty reminds one of the rhyme– “…. Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall…Humpty Dumpty had a great fall…. ” You were really true to it.
May I remind you that you were given ” Gem of IEM & Best Student Award ” in 2011?
What about those incidents….your first ride on a double decker…, Shukla aunty searching for you on a Holi day & you taking shelter under the cot for obvious reasons! etc, etc…?
    Baba.
